Californian lifestyle. If you’ve not experienced it first-hand then you’ll have seen it on TV or in the movies. Cool, calm, sun-soaked living; where people are outdoorsy and health conscious, yet holster an insatiable hunger for exciting, fresh food and popping flavours. It’s welcoming yet vibrant, and enviable across the world.
It’s a style that Pink Moon Café – one of Exeter’s newest eateries firmly making their mark on the trendy, up and coming Queen Street – confidently brings to the city, capturing those looking to enjoy good food while hanging out with friends, on a date-night or anyone that just wants to soak up a lively setting.
Expect an energetic buzz from the moment you set foot through the door. Pastel colours, high ceilings and plenty of greenery combine with upbeat music and a soundtrack of chit chat to create a spacious environment that is both inviting and on-trend.
A variety of tasty tacos, loaded salads, dirty fries (the katsu fries are a must!) and sumptuous sides make up the main bulk of the menu, encouraging sharing and giving the opportunity to try a variety of flavours and textures. A selection of unique burgers and steak cuts are also available to those who like to keep their food to themselves – non-sharers raise your hand!
Brunch lovers can enjoy a taste of the ever-popular Cali-inspired mealtime up until 4pm each day. Pancakes stacked to the rafters with an array of toppings from PB&J to fried chicken and maple syrup head the bill plus a selection of brunch bowls and seven inventive ways to have your eggs.
What’s more, many of the menu items are vegan, vegetarian or can be adapted to suit your needs – just ask one of the friendly servers who help create that positive yet personal experience.
Not only are the dishes on the menu varied and exciting, but Pink Moon strives to ensure as many ingredients as possible are locally sourced, sustainable and organic. It’s great to see that the guys here are also clearly passionate about doing their bit to reduce their impact on the environment, with real efforts being made to completely remove all single-use plastic. Respect.
Pink Moon Café is a welcome addition to Exeter’s increasingly exciting restaurant scene. While the sun might not be guaranteed, the rest of the Cali lifestyle recipe has been recreated down to a T.
