Ludo Sports Bar & Kitchen

Dec 18, 2024 | Featured Articles, Restaurant Features

There’s a new energy in the heart of Exeter – a place where sports fans, food, friends and family come together.

Ludo Sports Bar & Kitchen brings its sports bar and restaurant concept to the Guildhall Shopping & Dining Centre – taking the place of  The Terrace – and creating a new location for sports fans to gather for the excitement of live sport in a comfortable, sophisticated setting.

Couple that with a mouthwatering menu and plenty of cold brews and cocktails, and you can see why it’s already proven to be a successful combo.

The premium sports bar vision is tried and tested at their original site in Bath which opened in 2023 and is already well-loved for its one-of-a-kind offering – electrifying atmosphere and inclusivity for all sports fans. Now with funding secured, Exeter has been chosen as the second city to welcome the concept thanks to its thriving sports scene and high-energy community of sports fans.

It’s an innovative approach combining sports entertainment with quality dining and a modern feel, rather than a traditional all-out pub/bar environment.

Its elevated position on the first floor immediately creates a sense of excitement as though you’re part of an exclusive club. Large screens are viewable from zoned seating areas at different levels, with plush, luxurious booths and tall bar-table seating all complemented by dark woods and black accents. The bar sits central to this, aglow with warm lighting and staffed by collared bartenders – it transported me back to the sports bars of New York.

Sports fans of all shapes and sizes are catered for. Enjoy all the major football and rugby fixtures from the big leagues (plus local Exeter City FC matches of course), as well as boxing, Formula 1, cricket and much more. Those into their sports from across the pond will currently be able to enjoy NFL Sundays from 6pm.

The menu offers creative takes on simple comfort-food classics you might expect at a sports venue. Expect a variety of delicious pizzas, burgers, loaded nachos and wings that boast winning flavours – shout out to the Korean Gochujang red pepper sauce wings especially and the decadent Quattro Formaggi with its four-cheese cheese-pull that’s to die for.

A selection of pub grub mains and grills add further to the selection, while various small plates are perfect for those who are peckish but don’t want to load up.

Planning a big game Friday? Book your slot on Ludo’s ‘Pint & Slice Friday’ between 5-8pm and enjoy a quarter-slice of pizza completely free with your pint. Say no more.
