Win Tickets to Toby Buckland’s Garden Festival!
It’s one of the first outdoor events in, well, a very long time, taking advantage of the expansive and beautiful deer park setting of Powderham Castle, in the picturesque village of Kenton, near Exeter. The festival usually takes place in spring but this year it’s shaping up to be a summer extravaganza timed to coincide with the Great Post Lockdown opening up.
Visitors can expect the usual wonderful range of plant nurseries, which include award-winning and Chelsea Flower Show gold medallists, as well as fabulous locally produced cheeses, chutneys and cream teas, along with artisan arts and crafts.
A two-day programme of talks, socially distanced of course, will be delivered from festival host Toby himself along with an expert line-up of growers and exhibitors.
Toby says: “The festival couldn’t come at a better time because we’ve all learnt to love our gardens more than ever during this difficult last year. The silver lining is that as our world has become smaller we’ve learned to cherish things closer to home, and more people than ever have unearthed the joys of gardening.
“I can’t wait to see the brilliant nurseries, craftspeople and foodies again, and welcome our much-missed visitors for what is always a brilliant buzzy two days in Devon.”
This year’s festival highlights include the Country Gardener Talks Tipi – two days of expert talks from award-winning growers, the Festival Land Ferry providing a hop-on-hop-off ride through the festival grounds plus family entertainment from folk music band The Cataclews and The Higher Being stilt-walkers.
Sponsored attractions including taste testing with Sharpham Cheese, reclaimed stone displays from Hitchens Stone, and Devon Contract Waste who are launching their new recycled garden decking and furniture.
Advance tickets cost £11 for adults. Children under 16 free and dogs on leads welcome.
